Frontend engineer resume: a LaTeX example and how to write yours

Frontend resumes tend to list frameworks and stop there. The ones that get calls show what users felt: faster pages, fewer drop-offs, interfaces that work for everyone. Put React and TypeScript where the work is, and give each bullet a number a product manager would care about.

What recruiters look for

User-facing impact
Conversion, drop-off, time on task: what changed for users because of your UI.
Performance
Load time, Core Web Vitals, bundle size. Before and after numbers read well.
Quality and accessibility
Tests, design systems, keyboard and screen-reader support.
Working with others
Shipping with designers and backend engineers, owning a feature end to end.

Weak bullets, and stronger ones

Developed UI components using React.

Rebuilt the checkout in React and TypeScript, cutting drop-off by 18% across 60K monthly orders.

→ Ties the framework to a business result.

Improved website performance.

Cut LCP from 4.1 s to 1.6 s by code-splitting routes and lazy-loading images, lifting mobile conversion 9%.

→ Specific metric, specific technique, specific outcome.

Worked on accessibility.

Made the dashboard keyboard and screen-reader accessible to WCAG 2.1 AA, closing 42 audit issues.

→ A standard, a scope and a count.

Tips

  1. 01Link a live project or portfolio in your header: frontend work is easy to show.
  2. 02Name the metric: load time, conversion, errors. "Improved UX" says nothing.
  3. 03Keep design tools (Figma) in skills only if you really use them.

Questions

Should I add a portfolio link?

Yes. A working link to something you built is the strongest proof a frontend resume can have. Keep it to one or two of your best.

React or Next.js: which should I list?

Both if you've used both. Many job posts ask for one by name, and screening tools match the exact word.
