Privacy policy

fastcv is run by Akshat Jangid. This page explains what we collect and why, in plain language. The short version: your resume stays on your device unless you download a PDF, ask the AI to tailor it, or choose to sign in.

Your resume

• The resume you build is saved in your own browser's storage, on your device. We don't have accounts, and we don't keep a copy on our servers.
• When you download a PDF, your resume is sent to our server, turned into LaTeX and typeset, and the PDF is sent straight back. Nothing is kept once the download is ready. “Download .tex” and “View LaTeX” happen entirely in your browser.
• “Open in Overleaf” sends the LaTeX source of your resume to Overleaf, where it is handled under Overleaf's own privacy policy.
• To delete your resume, use “Start blank” in the builder or clear this site's data in your browser settings.

Importing an existing resume

If you import a PDF, Word or LaTeX file (or paste text), the file is read on our server in memory, its text is sent to an AI provider (Anthropic or OpenAI, under the same terms as AI tailoring below) to fill in the form, and the result is sent back to your browser. We don't store the file or its text. We record that an import happened, its file type and how much AI processing it used.

If you sign in (optional)

Signing in is never required. If you choose to, we store your email address and the CVs you create, so they sync across your devices. CVs you made on that device before signing in are copied into your account, and the copy in that browser is then removed. Signing out also removes them from that browser. You can delete your account at any time from the account menu in the builder; that permanently deletes your email address, your CVs and your sessions. Sign-in emails are sent through Resend.

AI tailoring

When you choose “Tailor with AI + fit check” or “Re-check my resume”, the resume content and the job description you pasted are sent to our server and on to the AI provider you picked: Anthropic (Claude) or OpenAI (GPT). Only the provider you choose receives that request. Your name, email, phone and links are left out. We don't store the job description; to answer an identical repeat request without another AI call, the answer is kept in server memory for up to an hour. When you apply a suggestion, the job's title, company and your fit score are saved with that CV so My CVs can show what it was tailored for.

Both providers process the request under their API terms, which don't allow them to train their models on this data by default. Each may keep it for a limited period under its own policies, for example to detect abuse; OpenAI says this is up to 30 days. We ask OpenAI not to store the request as saved response data.

We do record a short technical log for each tailoring: the time, whether it succeeded, how much AI processing it used, and an identifier for your license key (not the key itself). We use this to monitor costs and fix errors.

Payments

Purchases are handled by Dodo Payments, which acts as the merchant of record. Dodo collects your payment details; we never see your card or bank information. We receive your name, email address and purchase details so we can provide your license key and support. Your license key is stored in your browser so you don't have to paste it each time. If you're signed in, it's also saved to your account so it works on your other devices, and signing out removes it from that browser.

Analytics

We count how people use fastcv, for example how many people download a PDF or complete a tailoring, with our own analytics. Nothing is sent to an analytics company. We record events such as page views, button clicks like “Download PDF”, and whether a tailoring succeeded; never the text of your resume or the job descriptions you paste. There are no cookies. To count unique visitors we use a code made from your IP address and browser that changes every day; the IP address itself is not stored, and the codes can't be linked from one day to the next. Analytics records are deleted after about 13 months.

Feedback

If you send feedback, we receive your message, the page you sent it from, and an email address if you choose to give one. We use it only to improve fastcv and, if you asked, to reply.

Security and logs

Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses, for security and reliability. We use IP addresses briefly in memory to limit abusive request rates. We don't sell personal data or use it for advertising.

Your choices

You can ask us to delete your purchase-related details or feedback, or ask what we hold about you, by writing to support@fastcv.in. If you're signed in, you can delete your account and synced CVs yourself at any time. If you aren't, your resume is only on your device, so you control it directly.

If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
